All club members and their guests are invited to attend on Saturday, 1st of June 2013. Be at the club at 6:30pm for a 7pm start. Cost is $10/person (U12 are free). As usual, dinner will be provided (BYOG).</p>
<p>Please come along and help make this (our 100th year) a particularly special night. We will be including photos from the night in our 100 year publication towards the end of the year.</p>

<p>The Nippers are having a Christmas party next Saturday afternoon at 1pm. We are asking that kids bring along various different bits of food to help out depending on their age group. See the attached flyer for details. Rumours are that one Mr Santa Claus might be popping in for a visit.</p>

<p>Three cadet surf lifesavers put their training into practice for the first time to save a young boy from the surf at Coledale on Sunday afternoon.</p>
<p>Sixteen-year-old Aaron Dark and mates Riley Carney and Alex Smith, both 15, rescued the 10-year-old boy who got caught in a rip off Sharkeys Beach about 3.30pm.</p>
<p>The young surf lifesavers were carrying out a "roving patrol" at the unpatrolled beach when they saw people on the beach waving wildly to them to alert their attention to the unfolding drama in the water.</p>

<p>Well its almost that time when the beach season kicks off again for another year but before we move on, we have some business to deal with - the AGM, electing our club representatives for the upcomming season and reviewing the annual report for the past. The AGM is comming up this weekend (members should have received their notification by snail mail) followed by a BBQ and Open Day at the club house (open to anybody! <p>Our very own Davina Strauss has held onto her 'World Champion' crown at the <a href="http://rescue2012.com.au/" target="_blank" title="Lifesaving World Championships">Rescue 2012 World Championships</a>. Competing with a stress fracture in her foot, Davina won Gold medals in her age bracket for the Beach Sprint and Beach Flags events (<a href="http://beachflagger.com/what-is-beach-flags-beach-sprinting/" target="_blank" title="What is beach flags and beach sprinting?">What are these events?</a>). She also came in at 9th place in the Open Womens Beach Flags. This is an achievement to be proud of without the injury - even more so with it. Congratulations Davina!!</p>

<p>For the parents and rookies who are interested in the youth trip to LA next year, there will be a meeting after Nippers this week to discuss bookings, accomodation and finances for the trip. Anyone interested will need to attend this meeting and be prepared to commit some cold hard dollars towards the trip early next week.</p>

<p>If anyone is interested in learning to drive or crew the Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB), there is a course running on the 6th-7th October. You must be a surf club member and hold a current bronze medallion as a pre-requisite so if you don't already have this award and are interested for the future, let us know and we might be able to slot you into a course for that instead ;-)</p>

<p>Construction has started on the new camp ground office and caretakers residence. Because of that we have temporarily moved the office into the surf club making things a little more squashy than normal.</p>
<p>If anyone has any photos of the work progressing and you would like to share them, feel free to send them to us or post them up on Facebook.</p>

<p>Contact the hall manager by phone on <em>+612 4267 5314</em>.</p>
<p>Before hiring our Hall, you must agree to comply with the following rules and conditions. You will be asked to sign a document saying that you agree to these rules and conditions.</p>
<p> </p>
<ol>
<li>The Hall has a capacity for no more than 100 people.</li>
<li>The hiring is for the upstairs Hall only and does not include any of the downstairs operational section of the Surf Life Saving Club.</li>
<li>Full responsibility for the guests is taken by the Hall hirer.</li>
<li>Hall hire cost is $850, up to 70 guests, which includes 2 Bar staff for a six hour period up until midnight. Cleaning is not included in this cost. For over 70 guests an extra Bar staff at $150 is required. This will also cover cleaning after the hire. In addition to the hire fee a bond of $200 must be paid which will be refunded after the hire if there was no property damage during the hire.</li>
<li>The bond will not be refunded if any damage is done to any of the property of the Surf Life Saving Club, including but not limited to the crockery, cutlery, carpets, tables, kitchen and bar facilities.</li>
<li>Daytime hire is available - fees and bond should be discussed and agreed with the hall manager.</li>
<li>A deposit of $100.00 must be paid when the booking is made and full payment (including bond) must be made a minimum of two weeks prior to the function date. This is non-refundable if the booking is cancelled.</li>
<li>No photos, trophies or other memorabilia is to be removed from the walls or cabinets.</li>
<li>All rubbish and garbage is to be removed from the Hall at the completion of the hire period. Any items of crockery and cutlery used must be washed up and put away at the completion of the hire period.</li>
<li>The Hall is to be tidied and tables/chairs re-stacked by 10.00am the day following the function. In the case of a daytime function this should be done at the completion of the function.</li>
<li>The Hall may be available for decorating and setting tables prior to the function - the day before, for 4 hours up to 8.00pm. This is to be discussed and agreed with the Hall manager.</li>
<li>Pre-wedding or pre-party gatherings will incur a cost of $300.00 per night.</li>
<li>All breakages are to be paid for.</li>
<li>The kitchen is available for caterers.</li>
<li>The Hall hirer will ensure guests leave the Hall quietly and responsibly.</li>
<li>No smoking in the Hall or on the Balcony at any time.</li>
<li>When using the balcony, children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.</li>
<li>No glitter to be used in table decorations.</li>
<li>No naked candles are permitted.</li>
<li>Functions with alcohol must use our bar staff.</li>
<li>No animals are permitted in the Hall area.</li>
<li>Hire availability is at the discretion of the Hall Manager.</li>

<p>You will need to fill out a <a href="http://www.slsa.com.au/site/_content/resource/00001272-docsource.pdf" name="SLSA Membership Form" target="_blank" title="SLSA Membership Form">Membership form</a> and possibly also a working with children declaration (<em>to be confirmed since I dont have it written down in front of me.. and its been a while since I first joined up..</em>)</p>
<p>We can provide training for the basic awards (<a href="http://www.slsa.com.au/site/_content/resource/00003039-docsource.pdf" name="Surf Rescue Certificate Learning and Assessment Guide" target="_blank" title="Surf Rescue Certificate Learning and Assessment Guide">Surf Rescue Certificate</a> or <a href="http://www.slsa.com.au/site/_content/resource/00002990-docsource.pdf" name="Bronze Medallion Learning and assessment guide" target="_blank" title="Bronze Medallion Learning and Assessment Guide">Bronze Medallion</a>). This is enough for you to be able to start patrolling. We can also train you for some of the more advanced awards (such as the <a href="http://www.slsa.com.au/elements/FileDownload.aspx?id=4002" name="Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Learning Guide" target="_blank" title="Advanced REsuscitation Techniques Learning Guide">Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate</a>). Past that, we might have to enlist some help from elsewhere but can help organise it.</p>
<p>Basic uniforms (shorts, shirt, skull cap) will be provided at no cost for patrolling members. You should be prepared to supply other stuff if required (rash shirt, sunnies, etc). There may also be hats available from the club.</p>
<h2>Junior/Nippers members (5-16 years)</h2>

<p>Fees: One parent in each family must join the Surf Club. One parent and one child - $50. One parent and two or more children - $70. </p>
<p>Uniforms: Children must wear a club cap at all surf club activities. Club caps, rash-tops, hats and swimmers can be purchased from the club. Some second hand clothing available.</p>

<p><span class="contenttext">4) Stays of six hours or more within a 24 hour period by any person the occupant allows on the site will incur the applicable extra person’s nightly charge.</span></p>
<p><span class="contenttext">5) All vehicles must be registered and possess Compulsory Third Party insurance to enter the park.</span></p>
<p><span class="contenttext">6) The occupant must park all vehicles within areas designated by Park Management, and not on any internal roads or vacant sites.</span></p>
<p><span class="contenttext">7) A speed limit of 10kph must be obeyed within the park at all times.</span></p>
<p><span class="contenttext">8) Coin operated washing machines and dryers are provided in communal laundry.</span></p>
<p><span class="contenttext">9) A helmet must be worn without exception when riding bikes, scooters and rollerblades.</span></p>
<p><span class="contenttext">10) The occupant and/or any person the occupant allows on the site, or elsewhere in the park must not:</span><br />
a) cause or permit disturbance of the reasonable peace, comfort or privacy of Park Management, any other person lawfully in the park or owners/occupiers of any neighbouring land;<br />
b) cause or permit a nuisance to Park Management, any other person lawfully in the park or owners/occupiers of any neighbouring land;<br />
c) cause or permit the interference with the proper use and enjoyment of the park by any other person lawfully in the holiday park;<br />
d) intentionally or negligently cause or permit any damage to the site or any other part of the park;<br />
e) use the site, or cause or permit the site to be used for any illegal purpose;<br />
f) cause or permit any unreasonable noise at anytime, particularly between 10:00 pm and 12:00 am; and<br />
g) cause or permit noise strictly between 12:00 am and 7:30 am.</p>
<p><span class="contenttext">11) Management accepts no responsibility for any loss, theft or damage that may occur to an occupants’ personal property whilst staying at the park.</span></p>
<p><span class="contenttext">12) Caravans and tents must be erected within the boundaries of the powered or unpowered sites designated by Park Management.</span></p>
<p><span class="contenttext">13) The digging of trenches around caravans and tents is not permitted unless authorised by Park Management.</span></p>
<p><span class="contenttext">14) The occupant must not erect or display an advertisement within the park.</span></p>
<p><span class="contenttext">15) Amenities blocks are closed to patrons during cleaning and/or maintenance.</span></p>
<p><span class="contenttext">16) Children under eight years of age can only enter amenity or laundry blocks when accompanied by an adult.</span></p>
<p><span class="contenttext">17) Hand basins and laundry tubs in amenities blocks must not be used for washing cooking utensils.</span></p>
<p><span class="contenttext">18) The occupant and/or any person the occupant allows on the site must ensure the site is safe and without risks to health in accordance with the </span><span class="contenttext">Occupational Health and Safety Act 2000 and to a standard acceptable to Park Management.</span></p>
<p><span class="contenttext">19) The occupant must maintain the site in a clean and tidy condition and free from all garbage, refuse and waste matter.</span></p>
<p><span class="contenttext">20) The occupant must ensure that all garbage, refuse and waste material is securely wrapped and placed in the appropriate receptacle provided</span></p>
<p><span class="contenttext">21) A person must not occupy a site for a total of more than 60 days in any 12 month period, or for more than 30 days continuously. </span></p>
<p><span class="contenttext">22) Children under 16 years to be supervised by an adult at all times</span></p>
<p>23) <strong>Dogs and other animals </strong>are <strong>NOT </strong>permitted in the park</p>
<p><span class="contenttext">24) <strong>Wet suits, Surf or Body boards NOT to be taken into amenities</strong>. </span><strong><span class="contenttext">All sand to be removed at outside showers before entry </span></strong></p>
